Bath House Blues is a plan for a bath house for queer people, a space for dynamic healing.
The Raumerweiterungshalle of the non-profit association Selbstuniversität e.V. has been a self-organised space for non-commercial projects and events such as film evenings, performances, readings, concerts, seminars, discussions, exhibitions and workshops since 2003.
The design refers to modularity and readability. The dimensioning of the installation was adapted to the pavilion next to (Raumerweiterungshalle) as well as to the estimated use of it, although the possibility of a different location in case of a move was considered.
The external dimensions of the structure are 2x3m. In the first area there is a vestibule, which was designed as a buffer and changing room. The rear area contains the sauna.
The small building can be read in layers: outer shell, frame and interior. The polycarbonate double-webbed panels are placed on the outer frame with the help of laying profiles. The floor of the vestibule and sauna is covered with wooden strips. Aspen wood is also used for the benches in the sauna.
