Furniture design of a kitchen wall
2020

This project is installed in a 55 sqm, 1 bedroom apartment with a tight budget and the goal to bring together several uses while stepping visually to the background in a space that is heavily used. Parting from the idea of integrating a kitchen in a multifunctional room that also serves as working office and living room, the furniture covers the needs of a wardrobe for coats, jackets and shoes, functional space for the kitchen as well as general storage for the dwelling.

In order to adjust to the budget and allow a non-professional assemblage, the modules used were from IKEA and the fronts made of maritime pinewood treated with white coloured wax. To avoid handles as a budget saving as well as an aesthetic strategy, a mix of push-to-open elements and carvings in the wood were used. For the working surface, stainless steel provides a hygienic and light reflecting material that's affordable.
